Client: BDO Accountants | South East – location Tilburg
Assignment: New office locations for BDO South East – the Netherlands
Post Corona asks for a new vision for work environments
M+R interior architecture has designed a new sustainable and innovative working environment in the Plan-T building Tilburg for and in collaboration with BDO.
Even before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, M+R designed new future-proof work environments; just like the office building for the BDO Amstelveen and The Hague locations. The basis of the concept is a large flexible meeting space with a diversity of meeting places; meeting rooms, brainstorm rooms; lunch facilities and presentation rooms.
New innovative office environments must offer much more space for flexible, inspiring and sustainable facilities, a 'social hub' for team building; consultation and knowledge sharing. After all, concentrated work is also possible from the home workplace.
In the new innovative working environment of BDO Tilburg, the emphasis is therefore much more on meeting and M+R has developed a green, healthy and inspiring working environment with a mix of meeting places and a number of flexible, landing and concentration workplaces.
On September 25, 2021, the new innovative working environment for BDO Tilburg was taken into use, the first location for the locations of BDO South East in the Netherlands, whereby the new office building BOLD at Strijp-S in Eindhoven will become the flagship office and the locations in Tilburg, 's -Hertogenbosch and Maastricht function as fully-fledged flexible meeting and innovative working environments.
All developed and designed by M+R for BDO.
The walls are randomly shaped and wave through the space, each layer has its own color and structure. The layers are accentuated with indirect light lines for a dramatic effect. The architectural columns show images of paintings by Chagall, executed in glass mosaic. The lounge is visually divided with three accent colors from paintings by Chagall and also translated into the upholstery of the furniture. Behind the reception is a large stained glass wall that is indirectly illuminated based on Chagall's work with adjustable glass sections.
For the project, M+R had a historical color research carried out, which functioned as the starting point for the restoration of monumental canal houses and the carefully chosen composition of the materials and color palette. The walls with the monumental wooden paneling are fitted with especially durable linen wall coverings.
