Concept and design of presentation space Shapes.

SHAPES Experience Centre by M+R
Earlier this year (2016), the Shapes Experience Centre opened in Nieuwegein; a presentation space where architects, designers and finishing companies can be inspired in the field of decorative sheet material, ceiling and wall coverings, floors and lighting. There is an extensive library with samples and collection books. Events and training courses are also organised there.

Description:

The Shapes Experience Center is an initiative of RET Interieur, Astrimex, Bruijnzeel, Leoxx, and Flos. Products from Rockfon, Kronospan, Gyproc, Armstrong, and others are also on display.

The Center was conceived and designed by M+R interior architecture. We drew design inspiration from the lotus flower and the chameleon; the lotus flower serves as a metaphor for purity and beauty, while the chameleon represents adaptability and diversity. The lotus flower is designed as three sculptural elements composed of decorative sheet material; these objects rotate slowly. The space is divided into so-called color “slides,” with each slide representing a color from the full spectrum using various material applications.
