In 2019, M+R interior architecture transformed the BDO office in Amstelveen into an inspiring, transparent, and sustainable work environment. Now, in 2025, we have further developed this successful concept with the addition of an additional (sixth) floor. This expansion marks the next step in BDO's growth and confirms the strength of the timeless and innovative design we created back then – a design that has proven itself in practice as future-proof, pleasant, and functional.
The new sixth floor seamlessly integrates with the existing interior design concept. The work environment is designed in the same way as the previous floors, with the familiar color palette and the same division into work areas, collaborative workspaces, quiet workspaces, and meeting zones. This consistent design contributes to unity and recognizability within the building, which contributes to the well-being of employees.
To optimally integrate the additional floor into the existing structure, a new staircase has been constructed in the atrium at the front of the building. This striking staircase seamlessly connects the fifth and sixth floors and enhances internal interaction. The atrium thus reinforces its central role as the building's connecting heart.
Just as in the original design, this expansion also focuses on sustainability. Materials have been carefully selected with an eye for circularity, reuse, and a minimal ecological footprint. By repurposing the strengths of the original design, we are building on a proven vision: timeless, well-considered, and serving the user.
The expansion of BDO Amstelveen emphasizes the success of the work concept that M+R developed specifically for BDO and has since implemented at several locations. The result is an inspiring and flexible work environment where meeting, collaborating, and focused work come together harmoniously.
