BDO Amstelveen | expansion

In 2019, M+R interior architecture transformed the BDO office in Amstelveen into an inspiring, transparent, and sustainable working environment. Now, in 2025, we have further developed this successful concept with the addition of a sixth floor. This expansion marks the next step in BDO's growth and reaffirms the strength of the timeless and innovative design we originally created—a design that has proven itself in practice to be future-proof, pleasant, and highly functional.

The new sixth floor integrates seamlessly with the existing interior concept. The work environment is laid out in the same way as the previous floors, featuring the familiar color palette and the same division into work areas, collaboration zones, quiet spaces, and meeting points. This consistency in design contributes to a sense of unity and recognition throughout the building, supporting the well-being of its users.

To optimally integrate the new floor within the existing structure, a new staircase was added in the atrium at the front of the building. This striking feature creates a direct internal connection between the fifth and sixth floors and further encourages interaction among colleagues. The atrium thus continues to serve as the central, connecting heart of the building.

As with the original design, sustainability has remained a key focus in this expansion. Materials have been carefully selected with circularity, reuse, and a minimal ecological footprint in mind. By building on the strength of the original design, we continue to deliver on a proven vision: timeless, thoughtful, and user-focused.

The expansion of BDO Amstelveen highlights the success of the workplace concept M+R developed specifically for BDO—now implemented at several other locations as well. The result is an inspiring and flexible environment where meeting, collaborating, and focused work come together in perfect harmony.
