Project:

Developing a comprehensive vision for the interior design style and, in doing so, creating a future-proof environment where well-being, functionality, and recognizability come together.

This vision serves as the basis for clear guidelines for the design of both public spaces and work environments within the hospital.

Description:

Central to the design is the creation of a healthy and healing environment. M+R believes that interior architecture directly contributes to patient recovery and employee job satisfaction. By consciously designing with tranquility, clarity, and comfort in mind, an environment is created that supports rather than burdens. Each space is therefore carefully thought out and visualized, making it clear what the hospital’s future appearance and atmosphere will look like.
The use of color plays an essential role in this. Soft, natural tones promote calm and reduce stress, helping patients and visitors feel at ease more quickly. These choices are not merely aesthetic but demonstrably contribute to emotional well-being within the healthcare environment.
In addition, hygiene is a fundamental principle in the design. M+R selected materials that are durable, robust, and easy to clean. This not only extends the lifespan of the interior but also ensures a safe and clean environment—an absolute requirement in a hospital.
Acoustics are also a key focus. By dampening noise and minimizing distractions, a calm atmosphere is created that is essential for recovery and concentration. This contributes to a pleasant experience for patients and an optimal working environment for healthcare professionals.
Where possible, the power of nature is brought indoors. The integration of plants improves air quality and adds a soft, natural dimension to the interior. This enhances the sense of well-being and contributes to a pleasant, human-centered environment.
The new look and feel of the Anna Hospital was developed in close collaboration with staff and the facilities department. In joint workshops, wishes, needs, and ambitions were translated into an inspiring and widely supported design concept. This is reflected in a carefully curated palette of materials, colors, and applications, with special attention to sustainability and the reuse of existing elements.
The implementation of this vision is proceeding in phases. Initial locations serve as pilot projects, where experiences are gathered and used to further optimize the design manual. In this way, the design evolves alongside practical application and continues to meet the needs of users.
