INNOVATIVE GREEN WORK ENVIRONMENT

BDO accountancy & advisors

Place:

Amstelveen

Year:

2019

Project:

Revitalizing, making a more sustainable office withing the redesigning of the existing office building.

After an architectural selection for the new office building of BDO Eindhoven in 2005, M+R has since designed 15 office locations for BDO. For 2019, the locations of BDO in Roosendaal and Amstelveen are scheduled. In close collaboration with the users (feedback groups), the desired office spaces have been designed during workshops.
The remaining floors are designed according to M+R’s work concept, developed specifically for BDO: a meandering landscape with zones for focused work, collaboration, socializing, and relaxation. This proven concept has already been successfully implemented at several BDO locations.
Sustainability plays a central role in the design. Circular, bio-based, and Cradle-to-Cradle materials were chosen, and existing elements were reused wherever possible.

For this and future BDO projects, M+R also developed a new color and material concept, inspired by BDO’s international corporate identity.

Description:

BDO Amstelveen – Transparent, Green, and Welcoming

For its Amstelveen office, BDO leases approximately 4,500 m² in the prestigious Commerce Parc Amstelveen office complex, spread across the ground floor and four upper floors.

To promote internal communication and transparency, M+R designed a central atrium with open stairwells along the glass facade of the building. This open space is adorned with abundant greenery—including trees—which not only creates a natural ambiance but also contributes to a healthy and pleasant work environment.

The ground floor will serve as an accessible, welcoming space featuring a multifunctional dining and work café, a restaurant with open-kitchen dining, and a coffee bar. It also includes informal seating areas for discussions, work, and brainstorming, as well as flexible meeting rooms. The space can be easily adapted for presentations, gatherings, or receptions.

BDO’s reception desk has been strategically relocated to the atrium, creating a lively meeting place on the ground floor. An inviting new staircase provides direct access to the meeting center on the first floor, where an informal lounge and meeting area has also been created.

The remaining floors are designed according to M+R’s work concept, developed specifically for BDO: a meandering landscape with zones for focused work, collaboration, socializing, and relaxation. This proven concept has already been successfully implemented at several BDO locations.
