The cultural center brings people and organizations together
M+R Interior Architecture was commissioned by the Cultuurhuis Foundation in Krimpen aan de Lek to design the interiors for the café, library, cultural cluster, theater, and cultural institutions such as the theater and music associations. The interior design aligns with the Cultuurhuis’s archetype; the architectural design creates a cohesive whole, is flexible, and sustainable. The central meeting space is an integrated design, where the restaurant and library blend seamlessly together. The presentation of the collection is flexible and can be easily rearranged, allowing the space to be used for multiple purposes.

Description:
Connecting and collaborating: two key principles that define the Cultuurhuis. The Cultuurhuis offers activities for people of all ages, working as much as possible in partnership with organizations, schools, businesses, and shop owners in Krimpen aan de Lek and beyond. The activities at the Cultuurhuis fall into the categories of “Cultural,” “Creative,” “Educational,” and “Informative.”
The Cultuurhuis’s mission is to develop a comprehensive, tailored range of social and business services in areas such as housing, well-being, education, art, and culture. Concentrated under one roof, accessible to all, with a joint program of activities under a single management and leadership. M+R designed this vibrant meeting place in the new village center of Krimpen aan de Lek.
The “Kulturhus” for improving the well-being and vitality of villages and neighborhoods.
Where people come together, something happens. The word “Cultuurhuis” comes from “Kulturhus” and is a Scandinavian concept. It stands for a versatile community center where more is shared than just the front door. In Krimpen aan de Lek, the concept of “Kulturhus” has been translated into “Cultuurhuis.” The Cultuurhuis encompasses all cultural facilities under one roof in Krimpen aan de Lek. Joint management and joint programming by the participating organizations play a major role in the functioning of the Cultuurhuis.
