In 1996, the doors of the De Leest theatre first opened to visitors. Now, 14 years later, the theatre has undergone a thorough metamorphosis. The entrance has a large revolving door, which allowed the airlock to be added to the foyer space.

RENOVATION AND REDESIGNMENT OF THEATRE
The box office and retail space and cloakroom have been converted into a brasserie with a large open bar. The theatre café has now been given a combined function and is also used as a box office. The entire foyer has been fitted with a new synthetic floor and the ‘fuchsia’ colour scheme has been adapted to the colours black, white and gold, this colour scheme has also been carried through into the theatre hall. The last shape has served as the basic concept for the design of the bars, in terms of main shape and appearance and have a leather finish. The shapes are accentuated by means of indirect lighting. The cloakroom facility has been realised in the small hall as a box in a box concept with flexible use as an unguarded and guarded cloakroom.
