Timeless design as a strategic asset
For 25 years, M+R interior architecture has been designing interiors that go beyond aesthetics. Under the leadership of founder and interior architect Hans Maréchal, the firm has built a consistent design practice centered on sustainability, reuse, timelessness, and a people-first approach. No trends or fleeting concepts, but interiors that support organizations, strengthen identity, and remain relevant for years to come. The firm’s professional and structured approach is underscored by its ISO 9001 certification, through which M+R ensures the quality of its processes and services.
Over a quarter of a century, M+R has developed a distinctive DNA: each project tells a single cohesive story in which function, experience, and meaning converge. This approach results in interiors that are not only sustainable and beautiful but also contribute to well-being, engagement, and productivity.
People and organization take central stage
A clear example is the Canon Production Printing headquarters in Venlo. M+R designed an open and calming work environment here, complemented by representative spaces, clear wayfinding, and a consistent visual identity. Employees were closely involved in the design process, resulting in a future-proof work landscape with plenty of variety, greenery, and flexibility. The interior fosters connection and demonstrably contributes to healthy and satisfied users.
Connecting through design
In existing buildings M+R knows just as well how to create a sense of cohesion. For the PGB Pension Fund in Amstelveen, the firm transformed a closed-off office from the 1980s into a bright, open, and sustainable work environment. By creating new openings, sightlines, and connections, a transparent whole was created that encourages interaction. The reuse of materials played a key role in this and was visibly incorporated into the interior, without compromising on quality or appearance.
Respect for the existing
M+R’s portfolio also includes historic buildings and iconic structures. For Richemont Netherlands, the firm designed a understated yet high-quality interior in historic canal-side buildings, where historical qualities are enhanced through contemporary interventions. In Eindhoven, M+R gave the Evoluon a new museum-like layer with a temporary and fully circular interior, in which old and new are deliberately distinguishable from one another. For this project, the firm received an A’Design Silver Award in 2024.
Long-term thinking and recognition
Long-standing relationships with clients are a hallmark of M+R’s work. For BDO, the firm designed several offices, including the flagship office at Strijp-S in Eindhoven and the innovative workspace in the Melkhal in Enschede. The latter project was honored with a German Design Award in 2025, an international recognition of M+R’s vision on hybrid working, circularity, and spatial experience. For Forvis Mazars as well, M+R demonstrates how strong original designs can be successfully repurposed and updated years later.
Moving forward with conviction
After 25 years, the vision remains unchanged: sustainable quality is created through careful choices and respect for what already works. M+R interior architecture designs interiors that stand the test of time and help organizations look to the future. That makes 25 years of M+R not only a milestone, but above all a solid foundation for the future.
