BDO's new office in Breda, which was opened earlier this month, is the most sustainable building in the city, characterized using CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) as the primary construction material. This project underscores a strong commitment to environmentally conscious construction methods and sustainable design.

M+R played a significant role in this project as a source of inspiration for the adoption of timber construction. For contractor Winters, this marks their first use of this innovative building technique, in close collaboration with Rienks architects.
Throughout the design process, close collaboration with BDO's team was key. A series of inspiration and co-creation sessions had a direct impact on the interior design, which aims to create a representative and functional workspace aligned with the values of BDO Breda and Roosendaal.

The interior design emphasizes both employee well-being and sustainability, utilizing high-quality, eco-friendly materials designed for longevity. The workspace is flexible and hybrid, allowing it to adapt to changing user needs while maintaining long-term functionality. Unique design elements reflect prominent features of the Breda and Roosendaal regions, such as local nature reserves and water towers. Each floor provides a variety of work and meeting spaces, as well as areas for socializing and relaxation.

Sustainability is at the heart of this project, evident in every aspect of the design—from material selection and greenery to energy efficiency and the overall design philosophy. The objective was to create a building with minimal environmental impact and long-term value for its users.
With the building now in use, BDO has set a new standard for sustainable and future-proof work environments.
